                 nailed love

Hearts of Stone workshop at the California center for Creative Renewal, Encinitas, CA.
Create your very own Heart of Stone in the colors and image you desire. In this workshop you will learn the contemporary fresco process used to break, paint and mend your own heart on natural stone tile. Celebrating your own heart in a beautiful work of art created through the decoration of cracks, crevices and breaks on the stone surface. Hearts can be left with visible cracks and breaks or may be mended using wire, nails, screws and clasps. All hearts are beautiful works of art, ready to hang on the wall or stand on an easel. We will be journaling the experience throughout the day.

"Sometimes it's in the breaking that one finds the necessary pieces to put their heart together", says Diana Carey.

This workshop takes place on the beautiful, safe and spiritual grounds of the California Center for Creative Renewal in Encinitas, CA. It's taught by Hearts of Stone developer, Diana Carey and is facilitated by art therapist, Ellen Speert.

hearts of stone

"What appears to be a fun and fabulous workshop on making a "heart of stone", morphed into a lingering meditation for me.  My poignant wire mended travertine heart is hanging on  my wall near my bed and it speaks to me as I fall to sleep. I understand its message that, as we get older we experience life's small betrayals and intense losses and although they may break our hearts at the time, we have the capacity to mend if we choose to. I loved working the fresco techniques d.goth taught us...I look forward to trying some of this on canvas."  Kate McCavitt
