artist statement

d.goth

d.goth began painting and exhibiting professionally in the late 1990's. She developed the contemporary fresco process of painting on broken stone and tile. She started her own company, Hearts of Stone, which incorporated this style of painting with original poetry. Her contemporary frescoes and hearts of stone work have garnered numerous awards and have been exhibited nationally in, galleries and museums. Her stone work is in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Catholic Art and History and the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center Library.

d.goth is a published poet and has taught art in the public and private sector. She teaches workshops and lectures about Hearts of Stone, including a recent workshop to the art therapy dept. at NYSVA.

“Art should evoke and portray the artists fibre, his struggles and his vision. It should elicit a strong emotional response from the viewer, making him consider the palette and brush with which he himself is painted.”

Hearts of Stone contemporary frescoes

Each Heart of Stone is an original painting on stone or tile. The heart configuration is determined by the natural physical beauty and attributes of the stone and the artists interpretation of the cracks and breaks applied by the artist.

There may be objects incorporated into the design to indicate emotions. The Stones are mounted on wood and are ready to hang.

Whether the hearts are broken, multifacted, subtle, brilliant, mended or in pieces, all are beautiful.....just like the hearts they represent.
